Can PS4 & PS5 Players Play NBA 2K22 Together?
Yes, it is possible for PS5 players to play with PS4 players in NBA 2K22 however you will have to have a certain version of the game. If you have a PS5 and want to play with PS4 players you will have to play the PS4 version of the game on your PS5. To do this you will have to purchase the cross gen or 75th anniversary edition of the game. Your progress will carry between both versions of the game.
Unfortunately, if you are playing the PS4 version of the game on your PS5 you will not get all the upgraded graphics benefits. That’s the price of playing with your friends. Hopefully in the next version of the game we will see cross gen be fully implemented.
The cross-gen version of the game costs slightly more to purchase than the normal version. If you plan on upgrading from a PS4 to PS5 in the future it is probably worth spending the extra few dollars to get the cross gen version.
Does NBA 2K22 Have Cross Play?
No, NBA 2K22 does not have cross play. This means that you will not be able to play the game with your friends on other consoles. Xbox players will not be able to play with Playstation players. Unfortunately, cross platform was not included in this years version of the game. We are seeing more and more games getting released with cross play. Hopefully in the not so distant future this feature will get added to the NBA 2K series.

Yes, your progress will save between both versions of the game. This allows you to go back and play with your friends on the PS4 version of the game if they haven’t upgraded to a PS5. You will not lose any progress in this situation.
