Yes, Elden ring allows PS4 and PS5 players to play together with cross gen support. This means that even if you have a shiny new PS5 and your friend is still on PS4 you will still be able to play together. You might need a little help from a friend to defeat some of the bosses in the game!
The same goes for Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X users. As long as you are in the same console family you will be able to play with each other.
Is Elden Ring Cross Platform?
No, Elden ring does not currently have any cross platform support. This means that Playstation, Xbox and PC players cannot play together unfortunately.
Will My Progression Save In Elden Ring If I Upgrade To PS5
If you plan on getting a PS5 in the near future and are holding off purchasing Elden Ring you don’t need to. Elden Ring comes with a free current-gen upgrade. If you are on PS4 and purchase Elden ring you will get a free upgrade to the PS5 version of the game when you get your PS5. Best of all, your progress will all be saved when you move to the new generation console. Once you get your new console, double check you have downloaded the correct version of the game.
