Elden Ring Flail Locations – [Easy Guide]

You can create overpowered builds using Flails. This article provides all Elden Ring Flail locations to help you find your favorite weapons.

There are a ton of amazing weapons in Elden Ring; however, if you’re just getting started, it can be quite difficult to play with the starting weapons. The best way to buff yourself is to get some good early-game weapons. In this regard, the Elden Ring Flail is probably one of the finest choices, given you are playing a Dex–Str character build.

The beauty of this weapon class is that despite being Dexterity weapons, you can deal some serious Physical damage to your opponents. The only problem is that the game doesn’t really serve Flails on a plate, and you must travel great distances to find them. Therefore, this article provides all Elden Ring Flail locations (including Shadow of the Erdtree DLC), let’s get started:

All Elden Ring Flail Locations:

Flails aren’t quite common in Elden Ring, and you must travel great distances and defeat some of the hardest foes to get them. They are extremely powerful melee weapons in the right hands, as they deal a ton of Strike damage to all opponents. However, they are quite slow in chain combos, so you must learn how to use a Flail properly before choosing it as your primary tool.

That being said, Flails do have several advantages over other weapons, especially against trolls and giants. Currently, there are 6 different types of Flails in Elden Ring, the last one was added in the recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Here’s a list of all Elden Ring all Flails and how to get them:

Serpent Flail:

Stats & Requirements:

PhysicalMagicFireHolyLightningCrit Bonus
34 – 772550 – 92242521 – 100
StrengthDexterityFaithSkill
10 – E24 – D21 – DFlare, O Serpent

Serpent Flail was added in the recent Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This new weapon isn’t as strong as the Elden Ring Night Cavalry Flail, but it deals loads of Fire damage which is crucial to survive in the Lands of the Shadows. Therefore, if you love spinning a gigantic Flail as your primary weapon, you should go for the Serpent Flail as soon as you arrive in the mysterious lands.

How to Get the Serpent Flail?

You don’t need to defeat any boss to get this new tool. Instead, you must head to the ground level of Fog Rift Fort. Start at the Scadu Altus, the West site of grace, and make your way to the lower levels by using the natural platforms on the cliffside. Once at the bottom, use the nearby ladder and go further down until you find a medium tent beside the extinguished fire. Finally, go inside the camp and search the treasure chest inside to get your Serpent Flail.

Flail:

Stats & Requirements:

PhysicalMagicFireHolyLightningCrit Bonus
36 – 1092424242420 – 100
StrengthDexterityFaithSkill
10 – D18 – Dn/aSpinning Chain

Flails are already overwhelming due to their lack of special skills and slow striking rates, and the common Flail is the worst of them. This weapon is only good for carrying until you can find a better alternative, as it offers minimal base damage and negligible Bleed buildup. However, if you want to practice a Flail build, you must get the common Flail early on to learn how to spin Flail Elden Ring. Other than that, we strongly recommend that you should opt for better Flails as soon as you can find one.

Where to Get Flail Elden Ring?

You can find the common Flail from the Elden Ring starting location. Simply make your way to the Gatefront Ruins, and don’t get in just yet. Instead, look around for some carriages and search them to get your first Flail in the game. Alternatively, you can also get it from Brother Corhyn either by killing him or by completing his questline.

Chainlink Flail Elden Ring:

Stats & Requirements:

PhysicalMagicFireHolyLightningCrit Bonus
43 – 1092828282824 – 100
StrengthDexterityFaithSkill
18 – C12 – En/aSpinning Chain

The Chainlink is the next best thing after the regular Flail, and you should get it to replace your starter weapon. This Flail offers far better base damage and Bleed build than its predecessor, and you can scale it even further to increase the damage output. However, doing so will remove the Spinning Chain weapon skill, so it’s not really worth the sacrifice. Still, we suggest that you should get it as a replacement until you can find a better weapon.

Where is Elden Ring Chainlink Flail Location?

Chainlink Flail is a rare drop in Elden Ring that you can only get from specific enemies. You can get it by defeating the Lesser Pumpkin Heads near the northern Four Belfires campsite. This is also the best Elden Ring Chainlink Flail farm locations and you can even get their fancy hats as a rare drop.

Elden Ring Nightrider Flail:

Stats & Requirements:

PhysicalMagicFireHolyLightningCrit Bonus
37 – 1122525252521 – 100
StrengthDexterityFaithSkill
10 – E24 – Cn/aSpinning Chain

The Nightrider is probably the ultimate Elden Ring best Flail that you can get for your Dex build. It is basically an upgraded version of the basic Flail that offers better scaling with Dexterity (up to A) and even causes some serious Bleed buildup. Furthermore, you can further enhance the damage output by replacing the Spinning Chain with the Keen infusion. Lastly, the best way to use the Nightrider is to use it as the primary weapon in Elden Ring dual Flail builds.

How to Get the Nightrider Flail?

You can get the Elden Ring Night Cavalry Flail pretty early in the game. In fact, you can even go directly for it and ignore the common Flail as your starter weapon. However, you must defeat the Night’s Cavalry mini-boss near the Castle Morne Rampart Site of Grace (Weeping peninsula) at night time to drop it.

Family Heads Flail:

Stats & Requirements:

PhysicalMagicFireHolyLightningCrit Bonus
37 – 87 36 – 5626262620 – 100
StrengthDexterityIntelligenceSkill
8 – E18 – C16 – EFamilial Rancor

We have finally reached the point where we can discuss the real powerful options. The 3 headed Flail or the Family Heads Flail in Elden is one of the best weapons to pick whether you are playing as a Dexterity character or as a part-time Mage. Garris forged this special weapon in the memory of his late wife and children. However, we aren’t interested in it for its sad story but for the Familial Rancor. This Weapon Skill works in the same way as Ancient Death Rancor Sorcery, a magical skull that detects and damages distant foes. Furthermore, you can scale it with either Dexterity or Intelligence and even buff its damage output with various sorceries and talismans.

Family Heads Flail Elden Ring Location:

You can acquire the Family Heads Flail by defeating the Necromancer Garris. This mini-boss is found behind one of the illusionary walls in the Sage’s Cave. Unfortunately, there is no other way to get this top-tier Flail in Elden Ring, so get ready to face your worst nightmare.

Bastard’s Stars Flail:

Stats & Requirements:

PhysicalMagicFireHolyLightningCrit Bonus
32 – 6548 – 7824242420 – 100
StrengthDexterityIntelligenceSkill
8 – E22 – D22 – CNebula

If we were to fashion an Elden Ring Flail tier list, the Bastard’s Stars Flail will definitely secure a spot in the top three options. This powerful Flail scales beautifully with both Intelligence and Dexterity, making it a must-have choice for Dex-Mages (or whatever you call it). Moreover, like the Family Heads, it also comes with a unique Weapon Skill, i.e., The Nebula. This special skill creates a delayed explosion around the player and deals great damage to all nearby enemies (same as the Wing of Astel). So, if you are looking for the best Flail for your sorcery build, you should definitely go after the Bastard’s Stars Flail.

Where to Get the Bastard’s Stars Flail?

As intriguing as the Bastard’s Stars Flail may be, you must go through great danger to add it to your arsenal. The only way to get this fine Flail is to defeat Astel Naturalborn during Ranni’s quest line and save his remembrance. Finally, speak with Finger Reader Enia at the Roundtable Hold to trade the boss’s remembrance for the Bastard’s Stars Flail.

Wrapping Up:

Flails aren’t very popular among the Tarnished, especially due to their slow attacking speed and mediocre base damage. However, you can truly become unstoppable if you choose to invest some Skill Points and focus your character build around the best Flails. Hopefully, we have discussed everything about all Elden Ring Flail locations so that you can make an informed decision.
