Furthermore, you can buy the special mineral from the NPC (Non-Playable Character) and merchant Kairo. You can spot Kairo as he travels between Maw of Death Mountain and Foothill Stable. 

As of BOTW Amber uses, you can combine ten pieces to craft the Amber Earing at Starlight Memories. This equipment adds three points to the defense attribute. Also, you can use Amber as an ingredient to craft Orange Dye in the Koch Dye Shop.

Moreover, Zelda asks Amber to exchange ten mineral pieces for Ramella in Goron City. She will start a conversation and trigger another side Quest called “The Jewel Trade.”

When you free Van Rudania (a Divine Beast) from Fireblight Ganon, you can search for Ramella (another NPC and Merchant) in Goron City.  As you become more “attached” to Ramella, she will share that she’s from the Gerudo region and moved to Goron City in search of gems. Afterward, she will ask Link for ten pieces of Amber and add extra Rupees for the mineral. Shortly after, the Jewel Trade Side Quest begins.

When you give Ramella ten Amber pieces, she will give you 500 Rupees for the trade. After you complete the request, the quest will finish and Ramella will ask for ten random minerals in the future.

How to Use Amber in Breath of the Wild?

You can use the pieces of Amber to upgrade some equipment as you travel to a Great Fairy Fountain. These items require Amber for upgrades: Amber Earring, Hylian Hood, Hylian Tonic, Hylian Trousers, Cap of Time, Tunic of Time, and Trousers of Time.
