How Fuse Recycling Works In Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces some new mechanics that shake up the gameplay from previous entries in the franchise. One of the most interesting and potentially game-changing mechanics is the Fusion and Fuse Recycling system. In this guide, we’ll take a closer look at what exactly Fuse Recycling is and how it can benefit your adventure in the vast world of Hyrule.

How Fusion Works In Zelda TOTK

Before we delve into the specifics of Fuse Recycling, it’s crucial to understand the basic Fusion mechanic. Fusion in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offers near limitless potential, allowing you to blend weapons with items, or even other weapons, on the fly to create more powerful versions of your existing armory.

After earning this ability early in the game, you can fuse just about anything together. For instance, you can attach rocks onto sticks, swords, and spears to create makeshift hammers that can be used to break rocks for various resources. You can also add items to your arrows to give them new effects, or fuse rare minerals to weapons for magical attributes. The flexibility of this system provides new strategic depth to the gameplay.

Understanding Fuse Recycling

However, there is a catch to the Fusion system: normally, when you unfuse a weapon with the attached item, the material is destroyed. That’s where the Fuse Recycling Passive Ability comes into play.

Fuse Recycling is an ingenious mechanism that allows you to retain the material after unfusing. Moreover, with this ability, materials known as ‘Bursting Materials’, such as Puffshrooms and Dazzlefruits, can be used multiple times instead of being destroyed after a single strike. This offers an economic advantage in preserving resources while maintaining the potential for enhanced combat capability.

Weapons with Fuse Recycling Ability

As of now, there are two known weapons that come with the Fuse Recycling Ability:

  1. Forest Dweller’s Sword
  2. Forest Dweller’s Spear
Forest Dwellers Sword

Both of these weapons can be obtained by completing the Walton’s Treasure Hunt Side Quest, initiated by interacting with Walton in the Great Hyrule Forest. After securing either weapon, simply fuse a Bursting Material onto it and enjoy the benefit of multiple uses.

How to Unfuse Weapons and Items

While fusing provides numerous benefits, you might find yourself in a situation where you’ve used a rare material on an unworthy weapon. But fret not, as the unfusing mechanic can save the day.

The ability to unfuse items isn’t permanent and can only be done after you’ve completed the Great Sky Island. From there, take the long trek to Tarrey Town, on the east side of the map. In Tarrey Town, look for Pelison, the Goron child in the city square, to unfuse your weapons and retrieve those valuable materials back at the cost of 20 rupees.

Wrapping Up

Fuse Recycling is a fantastic addition to the latest Zelda title, providing an extra layer of strategy to the game. It encourages experimentation, strategic resource management, and offers endless possibilities for players to explore. Remember to leverage this ability and get the most out of your adventure in the kingdom of Hyrule. Happy gaming!
