Nintendo just announced a big update for Super Mario Maker, the popular Wii U game that allows people to make their own 2D Super Mario courses.
The update will bring a new tool called the Super Mario Maker Bookmark; players who want to search for cool levels to play will be able to log in with their Nintendo Network ID and use the Bookmark feature on the game’s website to browse through popular courses or to browse for courses by difficulty, game theme, or course style. There will also be searchable tags. You’ll then be able to bookmark your favorites and start them up using a Play Now button in the game.
“Players have already created and shared a huge number of courses, and now it will be easier and more fun than ever for players to create and find levels they will love to play,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
Besides the Bookmark tool, there are a bunch of new features coming with the update, including a Fire Koopa Clown Car that shoots fireballs, P Warp Doors that can be invisible (for Ghost House courses), a Bumper that sends Mario bouncing away, and World Records that display the fastest time on each course.
The update is due on December 21, just in time for holiday play.
