StarCraft 2 pro player SoS won the World Championship Series Global Finals for the second time, marking the first time an individual has done so. This weekend SoS, who won the Global Finals in 2013, faced off with opponent Life, who took the championship last year. SoS’s victory was hard won.
This will be the last StarCraft 2 tournament to use the Heart of the Swarm version of the game; Legacy of the Void, the newest expansion, will come out tomorrow. Legacy of the Void brings several major changes that will likely alter the competitive multiplayer aspects of the game.
Legacy of the Void will also close the StarCraft 2 trilogy, which began in 2010. StarCraft 2 is, of course, a continuation of the story that started with the original StarCraft games in 1998. While many know StarCraft as an eSports title, the game is also notable for its campaign storyline.
