Reviews Roundup: ReCore

From the legendary creator Keiji Inafune and the makers of Metroid Prime comes ReCore, an action-adventure masterfully crafted for a new generation. As one of the last remaining humans on a planet controlled by robotic foes bent on your destruction, you must forge friendships with a courageous group of robot companions, each with unique abilities and powers. Lead this band of unlikely heroes on an epic adventure through a mysterious, dynamic world. You can’t save mankind alone.

Kill Screen - Nicole Carpenter, 54/100

ReCore was supposed to be about a woman and her dog—her robotic dog. Its biggest fault is that it isn’t.

EGM Now - Emma Schaefer, 5/10

There are a few good ideas buried somewhere in ReCore, but with a mountain of bugs, systems that seem designed to waste the player’s time, and an endlessly monotonous and frustrating endgame, those ideas never make it to fruition.

True Achievements - Rebecca Smith, 3/5

The campaign is the best part of the game but is halted in its tracks by gates that require players to grind before they can pass….If ever a game felt like it was rushed to release, it is this one.

Game Revolution - Keri Honea, 3/5

If ReCore had simplified a smidge, focused on its core gameplay and core values, it wouldn’t be anywhere close to the loose conglomeration of half-executed ideas that it sadly is.

Clever Game Pun - Alayna Cole, positive

ReCore feels special, imbued with a certain energy that I haven’t felt playing a new release for quite a while.
