[News] Battlefield Hardline Coming to EA Access in October

Battlefield Hardline will be the next game coming to the EA Access Vault this October. That means it’ll be free with a subscription to EA Access.

EA Access is currently available only to Xbox One users, with no plans to bring the subscription service to PlayStation 4. It costs $5 a month or $30 a year. The latest game added to The Vault was Dragon Age: Inquisition. The Battlefield Hardline news was first spotted by a Redditor and confirmed by EA, but there’s no date yet for when exactly in October the game will be available.

Battlefield Hardline is the latest in the Battlefield series of first-person shooters. The games are known for their multiplayer team vs. team gameplay. Battlefield Hardline’s story pits cops against robbers. This is the first game of the Battlefield series to address crime and law enforcement. Previous games in the series focused on military warfare.

The game has come under fire for too closely mimicking events in Ferguson and other cities struggling with the militarization of police forces. It has been criticized for failing to address those issues realistically. However, the game was also reviewed fairly positively. Many critics praised the game’s multiplayer mode, voice acting, and object and level design. Sales for the game have been high—in March 2015 it was named best-selling title of 2015 in the United Kingdom and best-selling game for the month of March in the United States.

Battlefield Hardline’s single-player campaign storyline follows Miami vice detective Nick Mendoza. In the game he attempts to uncover the main players behind a turf war between drug gangs. The story is told over 10 episodes.
