Images of a new slimmed down PS4 showed up on an auction site over the weekend, prompting a ton of speculation over the veracity of the images. The images were extremely detailed, making the claim very credible. Later YouTube user ZRZ also uploaded a video of the PS4 slim actually booting up, further adding credence to their claim. (The video was later removed by the user.)
With the new slimmed down version of the console, there appears to be a new controller DualShock 4 controller. User ZRZ uploaded a quick video showing off the controller. The main change that is immediately visible is that the indicator light is on the top of the controller. Besides slight color changes of the buttons, there are no other visible changes to the controller.
Sony has a media event planned for September 7, 2016 where they are planning to reveal the teased console “Neo,” which is supposed to be a much more powerful system. Since the new slim system, if it is real, seems like it is ready for retail, it’s likely that Sony will release more details on the PS4 Slim at the media event and perhaps even have a release date for the smaller console.
