Indie Game Spotlight: Side-scroller Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight

The side-scrolling platformer Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, developed by Bombservice, places you in a cursed land in decline. Despite the corruption and evil that spreads through the land, one priestess, Kaho, has hope of a better tomorrow. Her goal is to get an audience with the queen, which she believes will help save the land.

As far as gameplay is concerned, the developer promises a lot of action, with combo, dodge and ranged abilities, a plethora of items that can be combined to form new play strategies, eccentric allies and foes with their own personalities, intense boss battles with challenging patterns, and a world to explore that’s full of treasures and secrets. They also have a difficulty scale which ranges from an easier setting for gamers who love story and a hardcore setting for those who love a challenge.

Reverie Under the Moonlight is actually the fourth Momodora game Bombservice has made, but don’t worry about needing to play the other three first. Reverie is actually the prequel to the first three games. So far the game has been very well received on Steam, with the vast majority of reviewers leaving positive feedback.

Reverie Under the Moonlight is available for the PC on Steam and Playism and retails for $9.99. You can find the rest of the Momodora games here. The first two games are available for free and the third costs $4.00.
