Indie Game Spotlight: Shardlight From Wadjet Eye Games

Shardlight is a post-apocalyptic point-and-click adventure game developed by Wadjet Eye Games, the studio run by husband-and-wife team Dave and Janet Gilbert who have previously created The Blackwell Series, Technobabylon and Primordia.

In Shardlight, you play as Amy Wellard, a sick young woman who is reluctantly working for the government.

After the bombs fell 20 years ago, a faceless oligarchy controls all the resources, while disease, hunger and death run rampant throughout the world. There’s never enough food, vaccine or water to go around for those who live in poverty. On the other hand, the rich are handed doses of the vaccine in return for the unequivocal support of the government.

Amy is only working for the government in hopes to qualify for the vaccine lottery, her only hope of getting a dose. But she’s fed up with the status quo. Amy believes there’s a cure, and she’s going to find it, even at the risk of her own life.

So far the game has been well received on Steam and has been praised for its beautiful retro pixel art, engaging story and voice acting. You can grab a demo of the game here. Shardlight is available for the PC on Steam and GOG.
