Indie Game Spotlight: Moon Hunters

Moon Hunters by Kitfox Games is an adventure co-op RPG that’s different every time you play. You and your friends play as worshipers of the Moon goddess. On the night of an important ritual, the moon doesn’t rise. You and your fellow warriors must try to find your missing goddess, while the cult of the Sun god tries to destroy you.

As you explore the world, you get glimpses of the mythology that it’s built on. There are 6 character classes, all with their own abilities and upgrades. When you camp at night, you choose to take on a particular task, hunting, keeping watch, stargazing, cooking, or resting. When you complete the task, you’ll get a boost to your stats.

While hunting for the Moon goddess, you’ll come across other villagers and situations which will present you with a choice. Depending on what you choose, you will accrue a label, like foolhardy or vengeful, and potentially a stat increase as well.

Moon Hunters is intended to be played over and over again. Each playthrough takes about 45 minutes. Each time you play, you will be able to choose which hometown you’re from and potentially uncover different side-stories. It supports 1-4 players and is currently out for the PC. Kitfox Games says they are working on Mac and Linux compatible versions as well. You can grab it on Steam, and it will soon be available on GOG.
