Indie Game Spotlight: The Flame in the Flood

The Flame in the Flood is a rogue-lite indie game set in post-societal America, and it was created by the Art Director of BioShock and a team of veterans of the BioShock, Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Halo series. You play as a girl and her dog travelling by foot and by raft down a procedurally-generated river. Your goal is to craft tools, look for resources, evade the deadly wildlife, keep yourself healthy, and mostly importantly, keep ahead of the rains.

As you travel you’ll explore new locations, meet other people just trying to survive, and upgrade your gear. You’ll also have to attend to your physical health and well-being, dealing with cold, fever, exhaustion and other debilitating conditions.

The game was available to play in Early Access on Steam for several months before officially launching today. During that time it racked up a high number of very positive reviews, as much for its accurate survival skills as its gorgeous visuals.

The Flame in the Flood is out now on Windows and Mac. You can grab it on the game’s website, Steam, and on GOG.com.
