Nintendo NX has now officially been confirmed as the Nintendo Switch. As had previously been leaked, the system will have both a console and a handheld component, with detachable controllers.
Check out the reveal trailer:
The trailer reveals that the console will feature both the non-traditional detachable controllers, while also being compatible with a “standard” type controller, similar to a PS4 or an XBox One controller.
It seems like the console itself will come with a detachable tablet that the controllers hook into. Once the controllers are hooked back into the tablet, the game appears to transfer seamlessly to the tablet face. From there the player can detach the tablet and take it with them. The tablet appears to have a kickstand built into it, so that you’ll be able to set it up, detach the controllers, and play, either by yourself or with a friend.
Besides major titles like Zelda and Mario being featured on the screen, it looked like Skyrim was also featured as playable on the new system.
There’s been no word on how much the Nintendo Switch will cost, but the trailer does confirm that the system will be coming out in March of 2017.
