The new trailer for the expansion to the Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO is a beautiful and heartbreaking story of a mother and daughter who are both strong in the force. The six-minute trailer starts with a woman playing with her daughter in a beautiful park. They choose a piece of wood that the daughter sculpts and plays with using the force.
The child is excited to train to use the force, but as she does, she reveals a darker, more dangerous side. That’s when her mother gives her to what appears to be a training school for the Sith. Time passes and the child is shown transforming into a warrior. Her mother hears her call out using the force and goes to try to rescue her, but it doesn’t go as planned. Seriously, just watch the trailer now:
The new expansion to Star Wars: The Old Republic is called Knights of the Eternal Throne. You’ll take on the role of the Outlander, a veteran of the Great Galactic War, and command a team of allies as you fight to control the throne. Your fight will push the galaxy more toward the light or the dark side of the force. The new story has nine chapters, five new levels, and two new planets.
Hopefully the level of meaningful storytelling in the trailer will transfer into the game itself. Even though I haven’t played SW: TOR in years, this trailer did its job and made me want to check out this new expansion. Knights of the Eternal Throne releases December 2, 2016.
