Player Housing Coming to Elder Scrolls Online in February

Soon you’ll be able to call a part of Elder Scrolls Online ‘home.’ Bethesda announced they are releasing a free Homestead DLC, which will introduce a player housing system.

The download, which will come with ESO’s next major gaming update in February, will include furniture crafting and home decorating options. Bethesda says there are nearly 40 different houses to choose from, and you’ll be able to further make your home unique with more than 2,000 decorative and furniture options.

Bethesda released a teaser video of the Homestead update, and they say that all of the houses were decorated entirely with the Housing Editor tools that everyone will have access to.

In order to get your very own virtual home, you’ll have to complete the Homestead tutorial quest, after which you’ll be given your first home, which is a room at the local inn. From there, you can expand to another home, like a tree house in Greenshade or a manor estate in The Rift.

Homes are created with the 10 different races in mind, but you will be able to buy any house no matter what your race or alliance. The only exception is the Imperial-style houses, which you’ll need to have the Imperial Edition of ESO. All the houses come either furnished or unfurnished and are located in the base zones, not DLC zones.

If you want to live the dream of owning multiple houses, you can. The houses are account-based, so all of your characters will have access to them after you buy them. And you’ll also be able to accumulate trophies and display the special monster-themed busts in your house.

If you can’t wait to be a home owner in Tamriel and you play Elder Scrolls Online on PC or Mac, you’ll be able to help test the patch on the ESO Public Test Server in January. For everyone else, the update will come for free in February 2017.
