iconBlind Gamer Finishes Ocarina of Time After 5 Years

If you’ve been reading video game news for a few years now, you may have heard of Terry Garrett, the blind gamer who uses stereo speakers to navigate the 3D world of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Garrett started his playthrough in 2011, uploading videos to YouTube along the way. Although he took some long breaks, Garrett didn’t give up, and now at last he has defeated the final boss.

Garrett conducted extensive research into Ocarina of Time before he began to play. He used an emulated version of the game, which allowed him to create frequent saves, since so much of his progress relies on memorization and trial and error. Advice from fans provided valuable help along the way.

“Who knows what is next!” Garrett wrote in the description of his final video, “Thanks for all those who have stuck with me through this series even after it seemed like I was giving up.”
