Gary Gygax’s Life Gets The Graphic Novel Treatment

Gary Gygax, one of the founders and creators of Dungeons and Dragons, will have his life immortalized in a graphic novel. The graphic novel, Rise of the Dungeon Master, is a collaboration between David Kushner, author of Masters of Doom, and Koren Shadmi, who is an illustrator who’s work has been featured in the New York Times, Mother Jones, and more.

The graphic novel will actually be based off of the 2008 Wired profile of Gygax that Kushner wrote, along with the extensive interviews that Kushner had with Dungeons and Dragons co-creators Gygax and Dave Arneson.

Fans will be able to grab the book and go on a journey through the life of Gygax. The book “casts the reader into the adventure from a first person point of view, taking on the roles of the different characters in the story.”

Rise of the Dungeon Master will be released on May 9, 2017, and will cost $16.99. You can pre-order it from a variety of different stores.
