Awesome Games Done Quick is an organization that attempts speedruns of games to raise money for charity. They raised a record-breaking $2,218,115.30 for the AGDQ 2017 event, and all that money will go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
This year’s event is the first time the group raised more than $2 million. The biggest donor was The Yeetee, who donated a total of $136,000 over the week-long charity stream. One of their donations was also the biggest one-time donations, clocking in at $40,000.
The user The General was the second biggest donor, contributing $37,998, with one of their donations totaling $10,000. You can check out the rest of the donors on the Awesome Games Done Quick website.
The team did a total of 181 runs through several different games, including Mega Man, Metal Gear Solid 2, Crash Bandicoot 2, and so many more. You can watch each one of their runs on the team’s YouTube channel.
The Awesome Games Done Quick Team has been holding charity speedrun stream fundraisers since 2011. If they follow their normal pattern, the next event will be their Summer Games Done Quick 2017. Since they began, the team has raised more than $10 million for charity.
