Overwatch Takes Home Top Prize at Game Awards 2016

The Game Awards 2016, which is the yearly streamed award show honored all things gaming related, including Esports, has honored many games this year, both large studio and indie games. In order to be considered for the award, the game needed to have been released before November 24, 2016.

Blizzard’s Overwatch took home the top prize, the Game of the Year award, and also won several other awards, including Best Game Direction and Best Esports Game.

  • Best Narrative: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  • Best Art Direction: Inside
  • Best Action Game: DOOM
  • Best Action/Adventure Game: Dishonored 2
  • Best RPG: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Blood and Wine
  • Best Music/Sound Design: DOOM
  • Best Performance: Nolan North, Uncharted 4
  • Games for Impact: That Dragon, Cancer
  • Best Independent Game: Inside
  • Best Mobile Game: Pokemon Go
  • Best VR Game: Rez Infinite
  • Best Fighting Game: Street Fighter V
  • Best Strategy Game: Civilization VI
  • Best Family Game: Pokemon Go
  • Best Sports/Racing: Forza Horizon 3
  • Best Multiplayer: Overwatch
  • Most Anticipated Game: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Best Esports Game: Overwatch
  • Best Esports Player: Coldzera – Marcelo David (Counter Strike: Global Offensive)
